glass craftsmanship + gallery
An interesting project, non-built, which came to us through a Norwegian artists couple. He, a glass craftsman and she, a painter of renowned prestige in her country. The plot is on the urban boundary of the Benecid district, in the Sierra Nevada Natural Park, which thus required a complete series of aesthetic and height regulations to be complied with.
This plot is terraced with stone balate walls and occupied by olive trees, which must be respected to the extent possible. The proposal takes the slope of the land into account, in two clear spaces, whitewashed and with surface finishing with stone from the area. The main space, for the glass craftsmanship on its lower elevation and an exhibition hall at public level, is open to the landscape with hidden views and has natural light from a series of three skylights. The other part houses a management office, a storage room and another small exhibition room. This is no doubt a place that was worth approaching and learning from Jannicke and Björn.
