stage space + amphitheatre

This ideas competition for the future construction of a performing arts space and an amphitheatre in Huércal de Almería was implemented on a plot with a strong slope between opposing streets. Paseo del Generalife is one of the main accesses to the heart of the town, and its character is markedly residential, with homes that are not very high. The programme required, in addition to theatre with 300 seats and its annex areas, an amphitheatre and the resolution of free spaces. The proposal is based on the use of the topography to accommodate the amphitheatre in a natural manner, terraced, as well as landscaping with a drop towards the rear part of the stage. The theatre building is divided into three spaces which house the main hall and stage, teaching halls and dressing room and storage. These spaces are communicated from the foyer, through which people can enter from the newly created open plaza to the Paseo del Generalife.
